The Oast House is a buzzing bar and restaurant owned by the Victorian Trading Company, which is located in the heart of Spinningfields, Manchester – nestled in between the head offices of Natwest, PKF and Mediacom to name a few. Back in 2014, The Oast House, purchased two of our Big Hat Tipis to accommodate their festive events and private bookings. Since their first purchase in 2014, their “Curious Christmas Teepees” have hosted a calendar of events, including an annual Halloween Party, which sees the launch of the tipis every Autumn and a huge New Year’s Eve bash.
The Set-up
Due to the overwhelming success of their tipis in 2014 and 2015, for Winter 2016, The Oast House wanted to double the tipi space on their courtyard, but they had a rather large metal structure which was restricting the available space. As a result, we worked together with them to create a two Midi tipi setup with custom Link-Kit which allowed for Metal wires to pierce through the canvas! These Midi tipis sit alongside the existing two Big Hats and are constantly open to the public – whereas the Big Hats can be hired for private events.
The entrance into all of the tipis are framed by our rustic Wooden Doors either fitted into a Weatherproofing-Kit (which can be seen on the Big Hat set up) or into an Entrance Porch (seen in the Midi tipis). These not only create a dramatic entrance for guests upon arrival, but they also weather-proof the tipis, protecting visitors from the unpredictable British weather!
Both the Midi and Big Hat tipis are erected on to their courtyard using our All-Terrain Anchorage Kit, which consists of anchor base plates that are fitted to the base of the poles and ballast barrels, along with tensile stabilising wires.
With Manchester quickly becoming a central hub for socialising, the tipis are a popup venue that anyone “in the know” gets excited about each time Autumn is upon us. The Oast House welcomes thousands of visitors over the festive period and the tipis have even made the news!
The Tipis can be booked for corporate parties and events – ideal for your Christmas night out with work colleges. If you’ve not yet had a chance to visit the Curious TeePees, make sure you drop in for a glass of Mulled Wine and try their new Fabulous Fondue – it’s delicious!
