“Our journey with The Tipi Company began as a small farm-based café project, but it has since evolved into something much bigger. After purchasing a Big Hat Tipi with a Wooden and Glazed Door and Window front, we launched a wine bar inside the tipi, and it instantly became a hit. The space has become so popular that people now want to book it for events, transforming it into a fully-fledged venue.
The demand has been incredible, so much so that we had to establish a dedicated events team just to manage the volume of inquiries. We’ve grown significantly and now have nine permanent staff members who manage the tipi and additional facilities. We’re even in the process of installing a bottle bar, chargrill, and pizza oven to keep up with the excitement.
What sets our venue apart is that, while the tipi is technically a temporary structure, it functions seamlessly as a permanent one. It’s become the unique selling point of our business, making us stand out in the local area – we are truly the talk of the town!

The Brief
Woburn Farm is a newly established venue that combines a rich historical backdrop with breath-taking surroundings, creating an ideal setting for live music performances and a wide range of events.
The heart of Woburn Farm is The Lodge, a facility that boasts state-of-the-art amenities while maintaining a charming rustic ambiance. This blend ensures an exceptional and memorable experience for all attendees, whether they are there for live music, a wedding, or a corporate retreat.
Beyond its reputation as a premier event venue, Woburn Farm is also home to Skillz Bike Park. This park features an array of trails suitable for all skill levels, making it a perfect destination for adventure enthusiasts.
The Challenge
Woburn Farm, one of Surrey’s newest and most exciting venues, sought to create a distinctive shelter for their café and a unique space to host various events. From the outset, incorporating a Tipi into their design was a top priority. The owners envisioned a space that would not only provide shelter but also add an element of charm and originality to the farm’s atmosphere.
To achieve this vision, they comprehensively explored different enhancement kits available for Tipi structures. They aimed to find the most suitable options that would complement their Tipi formation, ensuring it met their aesthetic and functional requirements.
The Design & Installation
Following a detailed video call consultation and a Complimentary Site Visit, the team at Woburn Farm decided on a 1 Big Hat Tipi in Sand, complemented by Glazed Window Sets and Wooden Doors, as the ideal structure for their needs. This specific configuration was chosen for its aesthetic appeal and functionality, ensuring it would blend seamlessly with the farm’s overall design.
The client undertook the installation of the Tipi themselves, showcasing their commitment to creating a unique and personal space. To provide a stable and permanent foundation, they constructed a raised timber decking platform for the Tipi to sit on.
The Sand-coloured Tipi was carefully selected to match the colour scheme of the surrounding hospitality area, which had been meticulously designed by the Woburn Team. This choice ensured a cohesive look that harmonised with the natural environment of the farm, creating a welcoming and visually pleasing space for visitors to enjoy.
Theming
The interior design of the Tipi was carefully curated to maintain a cohesive colour theme that echoed the rustic charm of Woburn Farm. Inside the Tipi, guests will find beautifully crafted rustic benches and tables that provide both functionality and a warm, inviting atmosphere. A rustic bar, designed to match the aesthetic of the seating, serves as a focal point, enhancing the overall ambiance and offering a cosy spot for guests to gather and socialise.
To create a magical and enchanting environment, fairy lights are wrapped around each Tipi pole. These twinkling lights illuminate the interior as night falls, casting a soft, warm glow throughout the space.
