Here at The Tipi Company, we use a durable fabric for all of our Tipis and Accessories, sourced from the Textile Industry’s market leader in Belgium. The canvas is highly water and weather resistant, breathable and flame retardant, making it perfect for the use of outdoor events.
As manufacturers of structures for the outdoor events industry for over 30 years, we are highly experienced when working to produce tents, awnings and many other products that stand the test of time and the unpredictable weather.
Born from our parent company, The Awning Company, over 3 years ago, we have had the pleasure of providing tipis for a number of Tipi Hire Businesses, Wedding Venues, Glamping Sites and many more business types. We are proud to say that we have never experienced issues with our Professional-Grade Canvas, for example – leaking!
One of our clients, Big Chief Tipis, had the honour of providing their tipis for the Queens 90th Birthday celebrations at Windsor Castle in 2016, where the rain poured down and the tipis were used as a shelter throughout the day for many! As we say – if it’s good enough for the Queen, then rest assured, our tipis are certainly good enough for outdoor events and accommodation!
Flame Retardancy
It is highly important when hosting outdoor events and providing accommodation, that the fabric used for your structure is flame retardant and meets all the required standards, including Health & Safety regulations. The Canvas that we use for all of our Tipis and Accessories is flame retardant, meeting BS 7837, DIN 4102 B2 and NF 92-503 class: M1 standards – meaning the fabric is an extremely safe material, perfect for lighting fires inside.
The fabric used carries a lifetime flame retardancy certificate, but if you or your client accidentally damages the sheeting (or any other elements of the tipis), then we have an in-house Repairs Service, where we can assess the damage and give you an honest solution to the problem.
All of our tipis are sewn together by our expert team of Fabric Technicians, using advanced textile methods to ensure the canvas sheets are made to last and are extremely strong – meaning they are ideal for using time and time again, year after year.
Canvas Technical Specification
The fabric that is used for all of our products has been tested to determine it’s resistance to penetrate water, using the Hydrostatic Head Test, which is conducted over a 24 hour period. The fabric meets International Standard IS0 811 and has the ability to hold up to 40cm of water before any seepage.
