The Brief
Riley Green Canal Boat Cruises envisioned transforming their countryside location into a stunning wedding venue alongside their existing canal business. With abundant open land, they wanted to create a unique and memorable space for weddings. Their daughter's wedding served as the inspiration and launchpad for this exciting project, as they planned to host her special day in their newly designed tipi venue.
The Challenge
Creating a purpose-built venue for their daughter’s wedding in the summer of 2018 came with its share of challenges. The family navigated tough and logistical hurdles, including tears, doubts, and difficult decisions. However, their commitment to building a magical meadow wedding venue paid off. Collaborating with The Tipi Company, they worked tirelessly to design a tipi configuration that balanced their vision with structural requirements, ensuring a seamless and enchanting setting.
The Design & Installation
After careful consideration, the team decided on a 4 Big Hat Tipi formation with link kits, complemented by a catering tent and bespoke sheeting to connect the catering space seamlessly. A few years later, they expanded their setup with a Little Hat Tipi to provide an open, sheltered area outside the main venue.
The venue operates seasonally from May to September, with the tipi canvases removed after each season and reinstalled in the spring. This approach ensures the longevity of the materials and maintains the venue’s canvas for every event.
Theming
The Tipis at Riley Green were designed to offer flexibility for every aspect of a wedding, from the ceremony to the wedding breakfast and evening celebration, all within the same versatile space. The interior features rustic wooden bar, tables, and chairs, creating an inviting and charming atmosphere.
Situated in an eight-acre private meadow amidst mature oak trees, the venue is surrounded by picturesque views of the Lancashire countryside. Once a simple grazing meadow, Riley Green Meadows has been transformed into a truly spectacular wedding destination.
