The Brief
Set within a stunning 16-acre site in North Lincolnshire, Nuddock Wood Lake is home to a 50-year-old, 8.6-acre lake surrounded by mature woodland. Initially established as a luxury fishing lodge retreat, the site boasts 13 accommodations, including five luxury lodge swims and six compact cabins.
After years of success in the fishing and leisure industry, the team at Nuddock Wood wanted to expand their offering by creating a unique wedding and events venue. The goal was to develop a space that complemented the natural beauty of the location while offering a versatile setting for large gatherings.
The Challenge
As this was their first venture into events, selecting the right tipi configuration was a key decision. The team required a structure that could accommodate large groups while blending seamlessly with the surrounding environment. Following detailed discussions with The Tipi Company’s sales team, they were able to explore all available options and make an informed decision.
To keep full control over the installation process, Nuddock Wood chose to self-install the tipis. This meant they needed precise measurements and clear instructions to ensure everything was set up correctly.
The Design & Installation
In 2022, Nuddock Wood Lake & Lodges installed three Big Hat Tipis, complete with an Enhancement Kit B, Panoramic Window Kit, Catering Tent, Entrance Porch, and a Raised Wooden Base. By following the detailed technical drawings provided by The Tipi Company, they ensured the flooring was measured and installed accurately.
To enhance the tipi experience, they expanded the wooden base to include a spacious decking area extending toward the lake, creating a stunning vantage point for guests. Additionally, they constructed a rustic wooden bridge with rope railings, providing a picturesque and functional entrance to the tipi space.
Theming
With its lakeside setting, Nuddock Wood wanted to maintain a natural and elegant aesthetic. The interior features round wooden tables and cross-back chairs, creating a rustic yet sophisticated look. To allow for personalisation, the space remains a blank canvas for clients to decorate as they wish.
Fairy lights strung along the tipi poles provide soft, ambient lighting, making the venue warm and inviting, especially in the evening. A beautifully curated sweetheart table, complete with eye-catching peacock chairs for the bride and groom, adds a stunning focal point for weddings.
Since installing the tipis, Nuddock Wood Lake & Lodges has successfully transitioned into hosting weddings and special events. The tipis provide an adaptable venue that embraces the beauty of the outdoors while offering a stylish and comfortable setting for guests.
