The Brief
Wasdale, a National Trust site in the Lake District, is home to England’s deepest lake, Wastwater, and boasts breath-taking natural beauty, including riverbanks, ancient tracks, and waterfalls. The team at Wasdale sought to expand their site’s offerings by upgrading their camping options to attract more visitors and provide a unique glamping experience.
The Challenge
As a National Trust site, any additions needed to comply with regulations to protect the environment and align with the area’s conservation status. The chosen glamping solution had to blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings and offer a sustainable, long-term benefit to the site.
The Design & Installation
After careful research, Wasdale National Trust selected three Baby Tipis in forest green canvas, each equipped with an entrance porch and wooden flooring. This choice ensured the Tipis would harmonize with the landscape while offering comfort and practicality.
The Tipi Company’s expert installation team travelled to the site to complete the project. The process began with positioning the ring beams to identify the best placement for the Tipis within the natural landscape. Once positions were finalized, the team constructed permanent wooden bases for the Tipis, ensuring stability and longevity. Finally, the Tipis were securely built onto the flooring, ready to welcome guests.
Theming
Each Tipi was thoughtfully outfitted to provide a cosy glamping experience: a double bed and two tri-fold mattresses beds to accommodate two adults and two children. A wood burner adds warmth for chilly nights and ambient lighting ensures comfort after dark.
The addition of these three Baby Tipis has elevated the Wasdale National Trust site, offering a unique and eco-friendly glamping experience that complements its stunning surroundings. The Tipis attract visitors seeking a blend of adventure and comfort while maintaining the site’s commitment to conservation and sustainability.
